Everyone's moving to these subscription models of monthly/yearly plans. Google has huge power to increase prices. Try moving all your photos from Google/Mac to anywhere else that's not their ecosystem, it's cumbersome.
Better to have them under our control especially for storage of photos and documents.
- How often do you even access all your digital content? It wasn't that frequent even with our physical memorabilia
- And what these storage services are offering us is redundancy (not losing them) and convenience.
I just keep multiple copies on actual physical storage (On my laptop and SD card/HDD and a Pen drive). Way cheaper.
