Tales From Black Friday - Elyse's Triumph!
Welcome to Saving Money with Andrew!
We last heard from Elyse over a year ago. Last weekend, she reached out with a truly heartwarming Black Friday story—how she managed to get her holiday cards printed (60 in all) for a mere $10. In her own words:
This past month was a month of splurges—I went on a trip to the Caribbean, my husband went to Florida, and then to top it off I got some non-essential beauty treatments. After spending so much money on ourselves, I wanted to be smart on Black Friday to get the best bang for my buck. For instance, instead of being rigid on family Christmas gifts, I scrolled through Amazon’s Black Friday deals, focusing on sale items.
Also, this year we decided to do Christmas cards, but I wanted to do them on a budget. This meant no high end Minted cards, which can easily run into the hundreds of dollars. Despite how beautiful they are, everyone knows most Christmas cards are tossed in a week or two anyway!
So, I scoured the sales and Snapfish had a great 75% off deal.[1] But, their cardstock was way too pricey at almost $4 a card (no WAY man!). So, I checked out Walgreens. Their cards were just over $1 each, AND they had a huge Black Friday sale. The total came to about $30 for 60 cards. When checking out, I found an extra $10 off coupon, and then used $10 of existing Walgreens rewards, taking the grand total to $10 for all of our Christmas cards, with no shipping since I could pick them up nearby. It was a Black Friday miracle!
Congratulations to Elyse, her family, and her horse and goats (pictured below)!
