Student Loan...Refunds? Plus An Apple TV+ Deal for Roku Users
Welcome to Saving Money with Andrew!
Student Loan…Refunds?
Everyone knows about the White House’s recent announcement of $10,000 of student loan forgiveness ($20,000 for Pell Grant recipients). But the announcement left many graduates who had repaid their loans during the pandemic rightly resentful they wouldn’t receive a benefit.
But, in a pleasant surprise, it appears these individuals may be eligible for some relief after all. According to this article, an estimated 8.8 million borrowers who made loan payments starting in March 2020 are (at least arguably) eligible to contact their loan servicer, receive a refund for payments made during the pandemic, and then apply for forgiveness up to the White House-set limit. There may be a long wait given the millions of borrowers and the various legal challenges to loan forgiveness, but it’s worth a try. Good luck to anyone eligible!
3 Months of Apple TV+ for Roku Users
One of my goals in life is to never, never pay for Apple TV+, which has a few good shows but not nearly enough to justify a long-term subscription. I’ve managed to string together a series of free trials (3 months with each new Apple device, a 7-day free trial for anyone, a 3 month trial through Target Circle, etc).
I thought my luck had finally run out, when I found yet another 3 month offer through the Roku TV menu. Simply turn on your Roku TV, open Apple TV+, and enable the 3 month offer. And make sure to set a reminder to cancel right before the trial expires!
And now, Andrew’s pick(s) of the week:
A rat? Gross. But how about a rat with a tiny backpack, trained to find earthquake survivors by crawling through rubble and pressing a switch that alerts rescuers?
