Saving Money...On Shipping?
Welcome to Saving Money with Andrew!
In recent years, I’ve noticed that shipping things to people has gotten very expensive, with the simple flat rate USPS Priority options starting at nearly $10 and rising to well over $20 for sizable items. While there are still cheaper options available for books and other media items (Media Mail), rates are much higher than in the past.
And so, I’ve started searching for discount options. One intriguing option I just came across is Pirate Ship, a shipping provider that claims to let anyone access deep volume discounts on UPS and USPS shipping of as much as 89% off (!). I haven’t used it yet, but am planning to try it and will report back in the coming weeks. Do you have any tips for saving money on shipping? I’d love to hear them.
And now, Andrew’s pick(s) of the week:
From Hasan Minhaj’s “Emotional Truths”: In his standup specials, the former “Patriot Act” host often recounts harrowing experiences he’s faced as an Asian American and Muslim American. Does it matter that much of it never happened to him?
What is happening in Portland? (warning, this is a tough article)
On a lighter note, This Fool, whose second season debuted in July, has some incredible moments of brilliance, with this season’s “Los Personas Invisables” and the two-part “Clyde & Clyde” among the greatest episodes I’ve ever seen of any show. It’s hard to describe, but if you enjoyed Atlanta or The Bear, there’s a good chance you’ll like this.
And finally, from America’s New Most Eligible Bachelor Is a 72-Year-Old Grandpa: Gerry Turner is a retired restaurateur who fills his days with pickleball. He’s about to date 22 women on national television.
I hope this has been helpful. If you liked it, please share it on social media! Also, please send me your feedback, requests, and success stories.
