Saving Money...On Amazon Streaming Subscriptions
Welcome to Saving Money with Andrew!
Streaming services have gotten expensive, and it’s getting worse. We currently subscribe to eight (!) services, spending over $100/month.
But the other day, I discovered a useful tip. If you subscribe to a streaming service through Prime Video (we subscribe to two this way: Ad-Free Paramount+ and PBS Masterpiece), try canceling your subscription. There’s a good chance you’ll receive an immediate offer for a discounted subscription.
First, I clicked to cancel our $11.99 Ad-Free Paramount+. Immediately, Amazon offered us two months at $0.99/month with no commitment, saving us $22 in about 60 seconds.
Fresh off this success, I tried cancelling our PBS Masterpiece subscription and immediately received an offer for two months at $3.89/month, or 35% off our current subscription price. Both of these offers still allow us to cancel at any time.
Try this periodically with all of your streaming services through Amazon, and if you don’t receive an offer, consider just setting your subscription not to renew and see if you miss it when it’s gone. You might be surprised, and you can always renew if you find a new show you’d like to watch on that service.
And now, Andrew’s pick(s) of the week:
The Scammers Waiting When Your Flight Gets Canceled - I used to routinely tweet at airlines when I needed to get through to someone for help in a hurry. Not only is this strategy no longer particularly effective, it also leaves you open to scams.
I hope this has been helpful. If you liked it, please share it on social media! Also, please send me your feedback, requests, and success stories
