DoorDash Revisited
Last month, I wrote about Saving Money on DoorDash. Last week, the WSJ had a great article about “Why DoorDash and Uber Eats Delivery Is Costing You More”. The article has some great points—in general, DoorDash costs more than ordering from the restaurant directly. Though, if one uses all of the tips in my prior post, DoorDash can be comparably priced or, occasionally, cheaper.
If you continue to use DoorDash, a crucial tip is to buy DoorDash giftcards at a discount and load them onto your account in advance. Setting alerts on SlickDeals is a great way to keep track of these offers. And fortunately, three such 10% off deals are available right now:
$100 DoorDash GC for $90 at BestBuy (and $50 for $45)
$100 DoorDash GC for $90 at PayPal
$100 DoorDash GC for $90 at Amazon (use promo code DASH)
And now…Andrew’s pick(s) of the week:
I thought this photo essay about people living (and struggling) in Silicon Valley was terrific. Somehow, one of the most innovative and forward-thinking places in the world is also so dysfunctional. Examples:
A family earning six times (!) the national average income has to spend so much on housing and child care that they can’t afford to furnish their house.
Teachers having to commute for hours to get to the schools where they teach. Unless, of course, they win a lottery.
A billion-dollar initiative, announced in 2019, to build more affordable housing appears to have made little progress, with the money to be used “over the next decade”
