Check Your Internet Plan For Savings - A Verizon FiOS Story
Welcome to Saving Money with Andrew!
We love our internet provider, Verizon FiOS. It provides fast and reliable internet access, and usually even works when the power is out in our neighborhood. At $94.99/month for Gigabit Ethernet, it was already a pretty good deal.
But last week, I found an extra $15/month in savings (along with a four year price guarantee) by checking my online account.
First, I navigated to our current plan details (Account → Home → My Plan → Overview) and noticed a Gigabit Ethernet plan for $79.99 that looked similar to ours.
Next, I opened an online chat and asked the agent for more information. She confirmed that the plan was identical to our current one, but with two added bonuses: free router rental (a $15/month savings) and a four-year price guarantee with no contract. I immediately switched, netting us $180/year in savings for about 20 minutes of effort.
Next time you have a chance, check your internet account to see if a better plan is available. And if nothing is offered, try the “Seven Simple Steps” in Cut Your Cable Bill to see if you can get a promotional offer.
And now, Andrew’s pick(s) of the week:
