Ask Nicely And Ye Shall (Sometimes) Receive - Two Small Reader Wins
Welcome to Saving Money with Andrew!
A longtime reader recently had two small but satisfying wins:
Story #1
Last night, I added four T-shirts into my Target shopping cart. With an existing promo, they were a great deal at just $22 for all four, shipped. But the next morning when I went to check out, the promotion was gone, and the total was over $32.
So, I fired up Target’s Online Chat, and politely complained that I was planning to buy the shirts but had lost the promo. A few minutes later, they lowered the price of each shirt in my cart to $5, and I placed the order, saving $12 in the process. Truthfully, I would have bought them anyway. They were nice shirts!
Story #2
For years, we’ve followed the advice in Cut Your Cable Bill to reduce our internet bill by more than 30%. This month, we noticed our small business internet/phone bill had increased from $106 to $130/month.
Quickly, we called the cable company, and asked for the retention department. We politely explained that with the steep price increase, we were considering our options, but wanted to know if they had any promotions or retention offers. Minutes later, we had a 24 month guarantee (with no contract commitment) of $110/month!
And now, Andrew’s pick(s) of the week:
Free COVID tests are back - I just received our four free tests. Nice to have around if you need to test for any reason.
Central Park warned a festival would ruin its lawn. New York went ahead with it - Just terrible.
